Community Chosen for AFG Arena, Switzerland

September 29, 2008

St. Gallen, Switzerland - - Community Professional loudspeakers have been installed throughout the new AFG Arena in St. Gallen, Switzerland, including the spectator areas, playing field and all public zones.
The complete audio system for the new stadium was designed by PolyConcept AG, based in Dietikon, Switzerland. PolyConcept designed one audio distribution and loudspeaker system that provides high quality voice announcement and music reproduction for the games and also meets strict evacuation specifications.

The system was installed by Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions, also based in Dietikon, Switzerland. With clean lines and modern design, the architecture of the stadium placed a high demand on aesthetics. Tyco were assisted in meeting this demand by the choice of Community R-Series, which are not only physically compact, but their high output and coverage enabled the use of less cabinets than any other product considered.

Just three high power R6-51 full-range loudspeakers were needed to cover the whole playing field; a standard configuration for some US stadia but the first time this solution has been used in Switzerland. With an 18,000 seating capacity, the spectator areas are covered by 52 Community R2 and 21 R.5 loudspeakers. In addition to size, SPL and coverage, the R-Series were also chosen for their extreme all-weather ability.

Ensuring the same high standards for the indoor areas of the stadium, over 100 Community CLOUD6 ceiling loudspeakers were installed throughout all of the public rooms and corridors, specified for their all-metal enclosure construction, high intelligibility and quality music performance.

Commenting for Community’s Swiss distributor, Show Supply GmbH, Director Chris Häfliger said, “We are very pleased that Community was chosen for the AFG Arena as this is a major new facility for Switzerland, for both national and international events. Although Community is a standard for stadia worldwide it is good to now have a local reference in this prestigious stadium”.
